I finally made it to Puerto Rico! You’d think someone as well traveled as I am would have made it to this easy-to-get-to destination already, but to be honest, I don’t gravitate toward Caribbean beach vacations very much. Puerto Rico turned out to be a great combo of city-life, relaxing beachy days, plus outdoor adventure. If you’re in North America and looking for an “easy” escape, this is it. This “unincorporated U.S. territory” is a cinch to get to, somewhat affordable, and doesn’t come with too much culture shock (i.e. English is spoken all over and the currency is the US dollar).
We spent seven days doing some exploring — in Old San Juan, Condado, Luquillo, El Yunque National Forest — and a lot of relaxing and really enjoyed it!
Stay tuned for posts about the food (of course) and where we stayed!
Disclosure: During part of my stay, I was a guest of the Marriott Stellaris Resort and Casino. As always, all opinions are my own.
I don’t usually gravitate to beach destinations either but it’s good to know there was enough city life! Great post, thanks for sharing.
Happy travels 🙂
Lovely photos – such a colourful place! I hope I’ll visit Puerto Rico one day!
Thanks Loredana!
