Photo Essay: Berlin…Again: Fourth Time’s a Charm?

You are here: Home / Europe / Germany / Photo Essay: Berlin…Again: Fourth Time’s a Charm?

Back. In. Berlin.

I am back in Berlin for a fourth time, and my fifth time in Germany. Clearly I like it here.

My first time in Berlin was back in 2007 during my “original world tour”. My friend Mark met me here and we loved it. My second time in Berlin, I came back again the next year in hopes of possibly finding a job, but after two weeks, I felt the pull of the road and started traveling again. In 2013, Sherry Ott and I got an apartment together in Friedrichshain, a cool neighborhood of Berlin and got “local” for a month, although the snowy, bitter weather was a bit of a downer as I’d hoped to cycle all over the city but the snow-covered sidewalks made that a bit impossible.

And now in fall 2014, I was back again for the 25th anniversary of the fall of the wall. I was able to revisit many old spots and see some new ones along the way and as always, eat some tasty food.

There is so much to see here and this city is so big, you can never see it all. Here’s a photo essay of some of what I saw this go around.

The street art picture really pops! And that sausage looks savory. Glad you enjoyed your third trip back 🙂
