UCLA
Los Angeles, CA
No, this isn’t Tuscany or Umbria in Italy…in fact this shot was taken on the campus of U.C.L.A. – the University of California, Los Angeles. Established in 1882, this public university has about 40,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled. Pictured here is Royce Hall, which was modeled after Milan’s Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio. It was completed in 1929 and is one of the four original buildings on UCLA’s Westwood campus and has come to be the defining image of the university. When I stayed in L.A. a few summers ago, we decided to explore the campus one day and came across this. I think it’s lovely.

My alma mater. Where you see the guy with the soccer ball is where I (along with many others) perfected my frisbee tossing. Then I would get hungry and seek out some Hare Krishna and get free food (and books!). Then, on to an occasional anti-war protest……but not so "serious" (like Cal). After all, UCLA is so SoCal. Sometimes, I would even go to class! BTW, Royce Hall had great acoustics. There was always some music going on during the day (free), and an occasional concert at night (not free), like Neil Young……you got the picture.
Lisa: Come back to L.A. Now that I'm retired we could…….oh, gotta go: Surf's Up!

Seems like a great place to go to school, Butch. Until this visit, I never realized what a posh neighborhood it was squeezed into…or rather to neighborhood grew around UCLA.
