My favorite little hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Coimbra was Restaurante Zé Neto
This tiny, homey place has a handful of tables and all the Portuguese standards, including cabrito (baby goat). I was pleased to see the happy owner, a grandpa kinda guy, shuffling around making sure his customers were happy.
I had the special of the day: the Bacalhau a Gomes Sa – shredded cod, fried up with onions, potatoes, eggs, and black olives. It’s not my normal lunch…but it was a lovely mix of savory stuff.
Oh too yummy.
Local food always is….and it's often due to the place and time more than the dish!
I agree completely. If you eat local food you will find yourself thoroughly enjoying your meal. It doesn’t matter where you are, if food is made with love, local ingredients and is fresh it is going to be delicious. This little place looks like all of the food is made with abundance of these three ingredients!
